		<description>That is a great question- the answer is Yes, I  do give oral antibiotics after surgery.  Avoiding infection is of paramount importance.  Patients are given intravenous antibiotics during the breast augmentation surgery, and the breast implant itself is soaked in antibiotic before placing it into the pocket behind the breast.  Additionally, the pocket itself is irrigated with antibiotic solution both before and after placement of the breast implant.  After the surgery, patients are on antibiotics for about a week as yet another layer of protection against infection.
